Take me there

Let Bamford Signature Candle Collection take you away…

As an adopted Londoner, I know I am not alone in my sense of foreboding submission as summer drifts away, the days become shorter, cooler, darker and inevitably greyer.  It’s not that I’m one of those sunshine-obsessed people, there are in fact many elements of winter that I embrace with gusto – I love a winter wardrobe and find nature’s transition from autumnal warmth to starkly, naked grey most enchanting.  And this year I have a new addition to my list of winter antidotes  – the remedy for anyone who shares my sense of dread at the realisation that we have months ahead before we’ll be switching off the radiators – Bamford’s Moss, Vetivert, Wood Smoke candle.

I won’t attempt to describe the fragrance, but will instead transport you there.  To a warm and cosy library, like a snug little pocket, lined, wall to ceiling with old leather-bound volumes, a weathered bust and well-loved wooden writing box.  There’s an oversized leather armchair that envelopes you as you drop into it and take your first sip of afternoon tea.  No, actually, let’s makes that whisky.  (I don’t think I even like whisky but it suits the scene a lot more than gin).  There is a well-established fire burning that cracks and sparks intermittently; winter’s sound track. The glow of the table lamp, paints the room an amber blush, starkly contrasted against the silver sky and bare trees which are just visible through the deep set window. My library has the Sunday newspapers piled up ready to leaf through (where as my husband would opt for a cigar and the football).

And that, for me, is Bamford’s Moss, Vetivert and Wood Smoke.

Oh, and I nearly forgot the dog snoozing by your feet. SMc
