Queen of Hungary

On review: Omorovicza  signature facial at The Gresham Palace

I have discovered a facial fit for a queen… In the eaves of the Gresham Palace Budapest there is a magician of a facialist whose skilled hands tap danced across my face with lotions and potions to repair my winter damaged and party sensitive skin.

It seemed rude not to try the signature facial from Hungary’s leading product house. When in Budapest after all. And oh my Omorovicza am glad I did. A full facial ritual this hour long treatment aims to cleanse and buff your skin back to life, as my therapist scrutinised my skin she decided that hydration was the best medicine, it was coping with -11ºc weather after all.
Cleansing black Hungarian mud, an algae and mud rich exfoliator (nourishing with just the right amount of soft scrub) performed a deep clean followed by layers of Rose serums and thick cold creams to bring my overly sensitive skin back to a state of calm. Using the tapotement style massage (brisk tapping movement) increased the absorbency of the products and engages blood flow, which gave me a healthy dewy glow in place of the angry red skin I had walked in with.

Perhaps the greatest miracle? I fell asleep… I never fall asleep in treatments (as I like to pay attention) but whether it was the deliciously warm water pad I rested on (I need to know where I can get one) or the soothing scents and motions of my therapists hands, either way I slept soundly through the last twenty minutes, waking up refreshed in my mind and my skin.
