The Only Way is The Lomax Way Part 2

Working it all out with a Lomax MOT

My second venture into the Lomax way (#thelomaxway) was a bespoke personal training session. I like to think I am fairly in shape but I was of course ready and prepared with lies on calories consumed daily, exercise regime, alcohol intake and all round life judgment. Thankfully these were not needed. I lounged in the fabulously healthy Lomax café waiting for my trainer, Mark, slightly scared but excited too to masquerade as a fully fledged Lomax person (it’s not just a phrase it really is the only way).

Mark talked to me about my goals and what I wanted to achieve: leanness, fitness and strength, an emphasis on healthy not thin. The sort of health that comes not just from the body but also from the mental clarity of exercise; and the sort of strength that will help you run fast and far from miscreants or an ex-boyfriend when encountered in a dark street.

Mark took me through a series of reps, easy at first and then becoming steadily more challenging, sneakily so I didn’t even realise it, working all the parts of my body, thighs, glutes, arms, shoulders, abs… basically everything. By far the best was my dynamic lunging across the studio, not only distracting it was also a great opportunity to people watch the other trainers and their prey. Mark was a true pro throughout, distracting me with engaging conversation, encouraging me when it hurt and pushing me when he knew I was slightly slacking or he knew I could do better. He listed, watched and when I thought I couldn’t do something found a way to boost me back up.

A bespoke experience that left me feeling like jelly but elated. If you are taking these once a week and you don’t notice the difference then you are doing something wrong. Become a Lomax person, embrace The Way, you won’t look back. TS
