The Scent of Summer

I have always liked to seasonally swap between my fragrances. For me fragrance is very much about an expression of the seasons and how I feel in those seasons. From heavy, spicy deep fragrances in winter to a transitional floral to a bright and fresh summer fragrance before transcending again into something with a touch of richness to match the autumn leaves when October rolls around.

For me a summer fragrance is the essence of lightness, freshness and fun. Therefore I have two that I find myself increasingly drawn too. Tom Ford Neroli Portofino (whose advert screams fun- who wouldn’t want to throw a giant bottle of that over someone in the worlds most elaborate water fight) and Dolce and Gabbana light blue (again who wouldn’t want to be in a boat in the middle of nowhere with only David Gandy for company- oh the torture. See below).

These fragrances all contain very delicate notes that make them so wearable when the unsurpassable heat (from your tube journey, not the sun, don’t be silly) makes anything heavy unbearable? I find Dolce and Gabbana has a certain floral heat to it; it is, whilst light, a hot light, as opposed to good old Tom, his is pure fresh beautiful white Neroli. I am putting the splash on my Christmas list this year. Even if I will wait six months to wear it. TS
